Portable Reactive Training for Individuals & Teams

Arrange the full-size silhouettes throughout your training space and adjust their heights and angles to suit the session. Designed for law enforcement, military training programs, professional instructors, and individual shooters, CQB in a Box™ supports instructor-led scenario training and shoot/no-shoot decision-making exercises without live ammunition.

Compatibility & What You Need

The CQB targets detect compatible Laser Ammo red and infrared (IR) training lasers, including the Laser Ammo cartridges supplied with Smart DryFireMag® Laser Training Systems.

• Smart DryFireMag® Red or IR systems: Repeated trigger-reset practice with a compatible laser cartridge to activate the targets.
• Laser Ammo AR Flash Bolts: Compatible Red and IR laser options for supported AR platforms.
• Other laser products: The manufacturer also identifies CoolFire/Dvorak lasers as compatible. Most other laser brands will not activate these targets.

The included wireless controller operates the targets without a computer. A Windows computer is required for CQB Terminal programming and after-action review; the computer is not included.

Reactive Feedback & Custom Target Settings

Each silhouette includes three electronic sensors positioned at the head, torso, and pelvis. Included reflective target cards let you vary the hit-zone size for accuracy practice.

With the matching CQB Terminal software, instructors can configure hit requirements and sensor LED colors. The targets can also be used for shoot/no-shoot decision-making exercises. Available programming options depend on your system and software version.

Targets arrive with factory-programmed settings so you can use the wireless controller without first creating a custom software configuration.

Session Timing & After-Action Review

CQB Terminal connects the targets wirelessly to a Windows computer through the included USB dongle. Along with custom target settings, the software provides session timing and an event log for reviewing registered hits and target completion. The newer Terminal V2 software adds the timing and control options described in its September 2026 guide; available features depend on your system version.

Review registered hits, sensor IDs, LED colors, elapsed time, and start/stop events to discuss performance with the shooter and compare training sessions.

Setup, Power & Training Environment

Assemble the targets and tripods, install the numbered sensors in their assigned positions, and insert the batteries. Keep each sensor open in its L-shaped operating position so it can register laser hits. Fold the sensors closed for transportation and storage.

Each sensor and the controller uses three 1.5V AAA alkaline, non-rechargeable batteries. Do not use rechargeable batteries or mix battery types.

Use indoors or in shaded outdoor areas. Walls, dense obstacles, and distance can affect wireless communication; check that all targets respond correctly in the chosen training space before starting a session.

Before dry fire training: Verify that the firearm is unloaded, remove live ammunition from the training area, and follow the firearm, laser system, and CQB manufacturer's instructions.

Software, User Guide & Product Information

Use the CQB Terminal package that matches your system. The available packages are labeled V1 for systems prior to May 2026 and V2 for systems after May 2026.

The September 2026 V2 user guide covers the newer version. Owners of earlier systems should use instructions and software matched to their equipment.
